ABBOTT AND THE COLOMBIAN COLLEGE OF HEMODYNAMICS AND CARDIOVASCULAR INTERVENTIONISM COMMEMORATE WORLD HEART DAY BY IMPROVING THE LIVES OF LITTLE HEROES

Sep. 26, 2024 | BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA

In recognition of World Heart Day, Abbott, the global healthcare leader, is reaffirming its commitment to improving the quality of life for children born with congenital heart diseases (CHD) through its Little Heroes program. This initiative reflects Abbott's dedication to providing life-changing technologies for newborns and children with heart conditions, working in collaboration with medical professionals and organizations around the world.

This year, in Colombia, Abbott partnered with the Colombian College of Hemodynamics and Cardiovascular Interventionism and the Children's Cardiovascular Hospital of Cundinamarca to support local efforts in treating congenital heart defects of 06 children in ages between four and sixteen.

"Each time we perform these life-saving interventions, we witness the incredible difference that early diagnosis and advanced medical technologies can make in a child's life. It is vital that we continue working to ensure that every child, no matter where they are born, has access to these treatments. By expanding programs like Little Heroes, we can give more children the chance to grow up healthy", said Luz Elena Arbeláez, M.D. and Cardiologist at the Children's Cardiovascular Hospital of Cundinamarca.
