Every year, more than 1 million babies are born with serious heart defects. 9 out of 10 children are living in countries without access to the specialized care they need to survive.
Abbott provides life-changing technologies and additional support for children that do not have access to healthcare. To ensure the best possible treatment, we partner with dedicated organizations and physicians around the world.
Our collaborations with charitable organizations enable us to offer help in various ways wherever it is needed.
Bambini cardiopatici nel mondo
Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo is involved in developing countries in many programs and
projects for the treatment of paediatric congenital heart disease. Thanks to the
voluntary collaboration of more than 150 surgeons, doctors, nurses and technicians from
the most important European Hospitals, we give hope to children with heart diseases, we
organize training courses for local doctors and we contribute to build new cardiac
surgery centres, in order to develop the local health system and tackle the infant
mortality rate.

Kinderherzen
This association strives to improve the treatment options for children, adolescents and
adults with congenital heart disease worldwide. They conduct research and educate
medical staff to be able to offer children the best available treatment. In this way
they provide life-saving operations in their home country.
La Ribambelle
La Ribambelle Réunion is the daughter organization of La Ribambelle France. They will
treat children with heart problems from Madagascar in the hospital of La Réunion. With
this organization they avoid long and expensive health trips from Madagascar to France.
The procedures will be carried out by Dr. Gilbert Bubois.
Fundación Relieve
This foundation is dedicated to seeking and financing education and health projects for
children and youth in Latin America and Africa. In collaboration with local
cardiologists, the foundation will bring patients from areas in Africa or South America
to Spain to get the required procedures.
Save a Child’s Heart
Save a Child’s Heart is an Israel-based international non-profit organization with the
mission of improving the quality of paediatric cardiac care for children in developing
countries and creating centres of competence in these countries. Their aim is to improve
the health and welfare of all children.
Gerald Asamoah Stiftung
The Gerald Asamoah Foundation supports the research and prevention of heart diseases.
They assist cardiac clinics in Africa by improving their medical equipment. Furthermore,
they offer free of cost surgeries for children from African families who cannot afford
these medical procedures.
Tierra de hombres
The Tierra de Hombres Foundation seeks improvement of the health care within the own
resources of each country through prevention, treatment and health education. With the
“Journey to Life” program they organize the transfer of minors with serious health
conditions to Europe.
Chain of Hope
Chain of Hope has been working towards their long-term goal that all children, wherever
they are born, have access to quality cardiac care in their own countries. They have a
chain of volunteer surgeons and medical teams ready to provide the urgent medical care
they desperately need.
Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Johannesburg
The state-of-the-art paediatric hospital aims to serve the critically ill children in
South-Africa and the surrounding provinces.
Sharjah Charity International
This UAE charity is a pioneer in providing humanitarian needs throughout the year to
beneficiaries from the UAE and abroad. They are promoting a culture of care and raising
awareness for healthcare. This charity organization will visit African and other
developing countries in order to support the surgeries of Little Heroes.
Colegio Colombiano de Hemodinamia e Intervencionismo Cardiovascular Hospital Cardiovascular de Cundinamarca
CCHICV is a scientific society in Colombia that, through continuing medical education and key programs in interventional cardiology and hemodynamics, seeks to promote the benefit of medical care through these therapies and impact the health system.
Lilo Fundación
Lilo Foundation is a foundation that supports children with congenital heart disease by creating or strengthening pediatric cardiology programs. It is a nonprofit organization that supports families with children with congenital heart disease to receive quality medical care close to home.
